The answer at this time depends on the location. Different local jurisdictions have different regulations about what they allow. Certain localities will allow for temporary occupation of THOW's and some others have amended their regulations to allow for a more permanent occupation. Please check with your local jurisdiction on how long you can reside in your Tiny Home!

A tiny home on wheels is a structure mounted on a chassis intended for occupation. Certification insures that the structure is built to one of two applicable codes, in this case either the ANSI A119.5 (the code for Recreational Park Trailers) or NFPA 1192 (The code for Recreational Vehicles)

Yes! We have a model of our 32’ Tiny Home on site by October 2022. My wife and I actually live in it so you are able to see and hear from us in real life what tiny living is like. We are also building short-term rentals of our 20’ Tiny Home and 20” Container Home that you will be able to rent for a weekend and try it out!
-
Our homes come in all shapes and sizes. Most of our homes are between 20’ - 32’ long, 8’6’’ - 10’ wide and a maximum of 13’6” high. We build within these dimensions because it allows our homes to be towed anywhere in North America without additional permitting. Mountain Craft tiny homes are built with quality construction materials, and so they are significantly heavier than seasonal dwellings like RVs and travel trailers. There are several factors that influence the weight of our homes, must notably: off-grid equipment, water storage and finishing materials like countertops and appliances (for example, granite counters are much heavier than linoleum).
-
We try to simplify the purchase process by offering a few models with several package options for each. Currently, our base model 20’ Container Home is $54,000 and our fully loaded 32’ Tiny Home is $132,500. Most of our homes run right around $100,000.

Depending on the level of build, it can take anywhere from 14-16 weeks to complete once we have a trailer. For a move-in ready home, the design period typically lasts 4-6 weeks, and the build time usually takes 12-16 weeks.

RVs are built with a primary focus on weight, whereas our tiny homes are focused on quality. Our homes are built to last as long as a traditional home, unlike RVs, which have very short lifespans. Anyone who has owned or stayed in an RV for any length of time can attest to the almost immediate deterioration. MC Tiny Homes are built to last, and they can be lived in year round without the wear and tear that occurs in an RV. No need for tarps in the off-season!

Absolutely! There are several ways to insure a tiny home depending on whether or not it is on wheels, if it is a seasonal or permanent dwelling and how it is certified. You'll have to check with your regional insurance agency, but most agencies offer full coverage for tiny homes, including contents insurance to cover your belongings and coverage for permanent additional structures such as decks or sheds. Please keep in mind that all of our homes come standard with CSA certified electrical installations, and that we also offer a range of different certifications for different situations. If your agency has specific requirements in order to qualify for insurance, simply let us know. It is very likely that we can build to fit their requirements—one of the many perks of working with a custom builder!

We do all the construction at our shop. We do not build on site. You then tow your new home to your location.
